Mediterranean Materiality, Reimagined
Presented during Milan Design Week 2026, Il Fanale’s latest collections continue the brand’s exploration of decorative lighting through material, craftsmanship, and atmosphere. Revealed within the Archiproducts Milano showroom as part of Fòco – Living Notes by Studiopepe, the new releases introduce a refined interpretation of Mediterranean design — where sculptural forms, artisanal finishes, and architectural lighting come together with warmth and restraint.
Known for its handcrafted approach to lighting, Il Fanale transforms traditional materials including brass, copper, iron, Murano glass, and Bassano ceramics into contemporary lighting collections that celebrate texture, oxidation, and imperfection. Each fitting is shaped through artisanal processes that highlight the natural character of the material, creating designer lighting with depth, authenticity, and longevity.
For 2026, Il Fanale introduces three new collections — Dea, Split, and Dolmen — alongside a series of new finishes that further expand the brand’s evolving material language.
Dea Collection
Mediterranean Atmosphere Through Light and Surface
Debuting at Milan Design Week 2026, the Dea Collection explores the sculptural purity of the circle through handcrafted iron forms inspired by the colours and movement of the Mediterranean coastline. Designed by DT Studio, the collection interprets light as both an architectural and sensory element, balancing clean geometry with rich materiality.
Pendant and wall light variations create layered compositions of light, shadow, and reflection. The wall lights, formed from concentric iron circles, appear sculptural when unlit before revealing depth and movement once illuminated. Pendant versions introduce adjustable mono- and bi-emission lighting, offering greater flexibility across residential, hospitality, and commercial interiors.
At the centre of the collection is the new Marea finish, developed through an artisanal burnishing process where iron is repeatedly immersed and hand-finished layer by layer. Warm coppery tones transition into cooler sea-inspired hues, creating a surface that recalls waves moving across the shoreline. The result is a finish rich with tonal variation, texture, and atmosphere.
Minimal yet expressive, Dea reflects Il Fanale’s contemporary interpretation of Mediterranean craftsmanship through pure forms and refined decorative lighting.
Split Collection
Graphic Forms Defined by Shadow
The Split Collection transforms folded metal into a sculptural architectural gesture, exploring the relationship between light, shadow, and surface. Defined by strong geometric forms and modular compositions, the collection creates rhythmic arrangements of solids and voids that shift with perspective and illumination.
Available in circular and elongated wall light variations, Split introduces a bold yet restrained lighting language suited to contemporary residential, hospitality, and commercial interiors. The adjustable round wall light allows light and perspective to be modulated freely, while the linear wall lights create graphic compositions that enhance surrounding architecture through repetition, scale, and shadow.
The Split Collection is available in Antique Iron, Coppered Iron, and Gradient Brass finishes, each bringing a distinct material expression to the design.
The new Coppered Iron finish softens the raw strength of iron through a burnishing process that reveals warm copper tones emerging naturally from within the metal itself, creating understated depth and richness.
Meanwhile, Gradient Brass introduces a more atmospheric finish where burnt brass tones transition gradually across the surface like a sunset fading into dusk. Each tonal variation is shaped by hand, creating a chromatic surface that feels tactile, layered, and unique to every piece.
Balancing sculptural simplicity with material depth, Split reflects Il Fanale’s contemporary approach to decorative wall lighting, where shadow becomes an integral part of the design language.
Dolmen Collection
Ceramic as Sculpture
The Dolmen Collection explores ceramic as both material and luminous object, drawing inspiration from brutalist architecture and the archaic simplicity of natural forms. Handmade using the ancient coil-building technique, each piece carries subtle irregularities and tactile textures that celebrate the beauty of craftsmanship and imperfection.
Available across pendant, wall, floor, and table lamp variations, the collection transforms essential volumes into sculptural lighting with a calm architectural presence. Warm ambient illumination interacts softly with textured ceramic surfaces, creating spaces that feel grounded, intimate, and atmospheric.
The raw materiality of Dolmen introduces a softer interpretation of brutalism — one shaped by handcrafted detail, organic texture, and Mediterranean warmth. Whether used within residential interiors, boutique hospitality spaces, or curated commercial projects, the collection balances sculptural form with functional decorative lighting.
The New Finishes
Material as Atmosphere
For 2026, Il Fanale expands its material language through three new finishes that deepen the relationship between surface, light, and craftsmanship. More than decorative treatments, these finishes are shaped through slow artisanal processes that allow each fitting to develop its own tonal variation and tactile character.
Marea
Developed for the Dea Collection, Marea draws inspiration from the colours and movement of the Mediterranean sea. Created through a layered burnishing process, the finish transitions between warm coppery tones and cool oceanic hues, producing a surface rich with movement, depth, and subtle chromatic variation.
Gradient Brass
Introduced within the Split Collection, Gradient Brass transforms brass into a dynamic chromatic surface where burnt tones gradually deepen across the metal like a fading sunset. Hand-finished tonal transitions create an atmospheric and highly tactile material expression unique to every fitting.
Coppered Iron
Also debuting within the Split Collection, Coppered Iron reveals a warmer interpretation of iron through a burnishing process that allows soft copper tones to emerge naturally from within the material. The result is a finish with understated warmth, depth, and a uniquely handcrafted character. Together, these finishes reinforce Il Fanale’s ongoing exploration of decorative lighting through material authenticity, artisanal craftsmanship, and evolving Mediterranean influences.
Decorative Lighting Shaped by Craftsmanship
Across Dea, Split, and Dolmen, Il Fanale continues to refine its contemporary interpretation of Mediterranean decorative lighting — where handcrafted materials, sculptural forms, and architectural illumination exist in quiet balance.
From oxidised metals to handcrafted ceramic surfaces, each collection reflects a commitment to material honesty and artisanal production, resulting in lighting pieces that feel both timeless and distinctly contemporary.
